Disappearing ink:
Today in class we did a lab about disappearing ink with ethanol, phenolphthalein and water. The step were to measure .lg of phenolphthalein into a 125 ml Erlenmeyer flask, add 10 ml of ethanol and stir until dissolved, then add 100 ml of d ionized water. The last step was for Andrew to do and it was to add 3 m drop of NaOH until the water turned dark red. Then we used pipettes and dropped some on a pieces of paper.
OCEAN ACIDIFICATION:
The cause of ocean acidification is carbon dioxide released by us into the atmosphere dissolved into the ocean and affecting the ocean. The scale for acidity goes from 0 to 14 where 0 is highly acidic and 14 is highly basic and 7 is neutral. If you decrease acidity pH drops and if you increase alkalinity pH increases. So when the carbon dioxide goes into the ocean it breaks down the hydrogen ions and corbon reacts to the water and makes carbonic acid.Carbonic acid releases one of it hydrogen molecules called bicarbinate and a bicarbinate molecule releases something called a carbinate ion and by have the ions raoming around you have hydrogen floating in the water and it decreases acidity in the water.it can affect coral like cocoliths.
DRY ICE:
What we did today was dry ice expirement and Andrew pressurized dry ice and depressurized and exploded and look like he made snow.He gave each table a piece of ice and i got a beacker and put two pieces of dry ice and smoke started to come out and and we put soap over the beaker and started making bubbles and when they popped they looked cool.

WHAT ARE THE PHASES MATTER:
Matter can exist in different phases, solid, liquid, gas. When solids are heated it melts into liquid. When liquids are heated it turns into gas. Evaporation is when liquid turns into a gas.when a solid is turned into a gas is sublimation. When gases are turned into solids it is called disposition. PSI which is (pound per square inch) is a type of measure to tell you how much pressure on an object substance. Pressure and temperature affect the changes of matter very much for example if you water in a cup and it is 33 degrees fahrenheit it will freeze and turn into ice. What I learned about gases is a air-like substance that expands freely to fill any space available.
HYPOTHESIS
What happen was we used a flask and a beaker and a balloon and used magnesium and citric acid and used water so it can react. Once it was reacting the magnesium and acid releases hydrogen and it goes into the balloon and after we put a candle on the table and used a ruler and tied the balloon on the ruler and put the balloon down on the candle and the flame exploded the balloon and the hydrogen turned to a flame.
COMBUSTION ANNOTATION
What i think science is questions:
1. How would you describe what "science" is?
How I describe science is building and learning new facts.
2. What is a hypothesis, And why would you have one?
A hypothesis is a personal statement of understanding, I would have one because to explain how something works.
